Terms of service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between Hatchgrid Private Limited ("Hatchgrid", "we", "us", "our") and you when you use Quizzie (the "App") — our quiz application available on mobile and web.

Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account or using Quizzie in any way, you agree to be bound by them and by our Privacy Policy.

1. The basics

• Who we are: Hatchgrid Private Limited, a company incorporated in India with its registered office in Gurugram, Haryana.
• What Quizzie is: a quiz-based entertainment application offering category quizzes, friend challenges, and group tribes.
• What this isn't: Quizzie is for entertainment. It is not a knowledge certification, an educational credential, or a real-money gaming service. We do not award cash prizes, vouchers, or anything of monetary value for gameplay.

2. Eligibility

You may use Quizzie if:

• You are at least 13 years old.
• If you are under 18, you have your parent's or legal guardian's permission to use Quizzie. By creating an account, you confirm that such permission has been obtained.
• You are legally able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law (the Indian Contract Act, 1872).
• You are not barred from using our services under any applicable law.

We may refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove content at our discretion if we reasonably believe you do not meet these criteria.

3. Your account

To use most features of Quizzie, you need an account. When you create one:

• You agree to provide accurate information (a working email address for sign-in).
• You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for all activity on your account.
• You agree not to share your account with anyone else, or use someone else's account without permission.
• If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at help@quizzie.app.

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, fraud, abuse, or for safety reasons. You can delete your account at any time via Profile → Delete Account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Quizzie to harass, abuse, threaten, dox, or impersonate anyone.
• Choose a username or avatar that is offensive, infringing, impersonates a real person without permission, or is misleading.
• Cheat — including but not limited to: tampering with the App's code, intercepting network traffic, using bots or automated tools to play, sharing answers in advance, or otherwise circumventing our anti-cheat measures.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or secrets from the App.
• Access, scrape, or copy data from Quizzie except as expressly permitted (e.g., via your own profile).
• Use Quizzie to send spam, malware, or unsolicited messages.
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without our prior written consent. (If you find a security issue, please email help@quizzie.app — we appreciate responsible disclosure.)
• Use Quizzie for any unlawful purpose under Indian law.

Violations may result in warnings, content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban — at our sole discretion.

5. Quiz content, imagery, and AI disclosure

Quizzie's questions are generated or curated with the assistance of artificial intelligence. This means:

• Questions may occasionally be inaccurate, unclear, or unfair despite our quality controls. We will not always be able to detect every error in advance.
• If you find a problem with a question, please flag it using the in-app reporting flow (tap any question on your result screen → "Found something off?"). We review every report and use them to improve content.
• We are not liable for any decision you make based on quiz answers (e.g., as a study aid, in a debate, or as factual research). Quizzie is for entertainment only.

Visual assets in the App — including player avatars, category hero images, and category poster artwork — are also generated using artificial intelligence and are stylised, illustrative works. This means:

• These images are creative, fictional illustrations. They are not photographs, and they are not intended to depict — and should not be interpreted as depicting — any real, identifiable person, event, product, or place.
• Any resemblance between AI-generated imagery and a real person, character, brand, logo, or copyrighted work is unintended. Such imagery does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from any third party.
• If you believe any in-app image infringes your rights or those of a third party, please contact us at help@quizzie.app. We review every such report and will, where appropriate, remove or replace the image.

All quiz questions, categories, curated content, and in-app imagery (including avatars and category artwork) are owned by Hatchgrid (or licensed to us) and are protected by Indian and international intellectual property law. You may not copy, redistribute, or use this content or imagery outside the App.

6. User content

When you choose a username, select an avatar from the set we provide, or flag a question, that's "User Content."

• You retain ownership of your User Content.
• Selecting an avatar is a choice among illustrations we provide; you do not acquire any ownership of the underlying avatar artwork, which remains ours (see "Intellectual property").
• By submitting User Content, you grant Hatchgrid a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, display, distribute, and use that content within the App and for purposes related to operating, promoting, and improving Quizzie.
• You confirm that your User Content does not infringe anyone else's rights and complies with these Terms (see "Acceptable use").

We may remove User Content that violates these Terms without notice.

7. Intellectual property

The App — including its source code, design, branding (the Quizzie name, logo, "Hatchgrid"), quiz questions, categories, gameplay mechanics, illustrations, avatars, category hero and poster artwork, and other content — is owned by Hatchgrid or its licensors. All rights are reserved.

You may not copy, download, extract, redistribute, or otherwise use any images or artwork from the App outside the App. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, copyrights, or other intellectual property except the limited right to use the App as described here.

8. Quizzie Infinity (paid subscription)

8.1 What it is

Quizzie is free to play. Quizzie Infinity is an optional, auto-renewing subscription. Free players can start a limited number of Global Battles in any rolling 24 hours (the current limit is shown in the App and may change). Infinity removes that limit and the pre-match subscription prompt. Dares with your mates are currently free and not limited. We may add to or adjust Infinity's features, but we will not materially reduce what you've paid for during a period you have already paid for.

8.2 Plans, prices and free trials

• Infinity is offered as a monthly and an annual plan. The price in your local currency, and any applicable taxes, are shown by the App Store or Google Play before you confirm the purchase. Prices can differ by country.
• If a free trial is offered, its length is shown before you subscribe. The trial converts to a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Trial eligibility is decided by the store.

8.3 Who processes your payment

Purchases are made only through Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android), and the store's own terms also apply. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details. We use a subscription-management provider (RevenueCat) to confirm your subscription status — see our Privacy Policy.

8.4 Auto-renewal and cancelling

• Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each monthly or annual period, at the then-current price, and your store account is charged, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Cancel in your store account: iPhone — Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Android — Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
• Deleting the App or your Quizzie account does not cancel your subscription. Only cancelling in the store does.
• After you cancel, Infinity stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and no further charges are made.
• If the price changes, the store will notify you and handle any consent it requires before the new price applies.

8.5 Refunds

We don't give refunds for change of mind or unused time — including partially used periods and automatic renewals — except:

• (a) where applicable law gives you a right to a refund;
• (b) refunds granted by Apple or Google under their own policies. Apple handles all refund requests for iOS purchases (reportaproblem.apple.com) — we cannot issue or block them. Google Play may refund a charge you request shortly after it is made (within the self-service refund window Google Play sets) through Google Play;
• (c) where you were charged but Infinity was never activated on your account and we cannot fix it, or you were charged twice in error. Contact help@quizzie.app with your store order ID. For Google Play purchases we will refund the affected charge; for Apple purchases we will help you request the refund from Apple.

A refunded purchase ends your Infinity access.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded — including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 of India.

8.6 Your account, devices and restoring

• Infinity is linked to the Quizzie account that was signed in when you bought or restored it, and works on any device signed into that account.
• A store subscription can be linked to only one Quizzie account at a time. Restoring it on another Quizzie account moves it there.
• If Infinity doesn't show on your account, use Restore purchases in the App (Profile, or the Infinity screen) on a device signed into the store account you paid with. Subscriptions can't be restored across stores (App Store ↔ Google Play) — contact us and we'll help.

8.7 Users under 18

If you are under 18, you may purchase Infinity only with the permission of your parent or legal guardian. The holder of the store account used for a purchase is responsible for it.

8.8 Suspension and account closure

• We can't cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription for you — only you can, in your store account (§8.4).
• If we suspend or close your account under §10 because you broke these Terms, your subscription is not refunded, and it keeps renewing until you cancel it in your store account.
• If we close your account under §10 for any other reason (for example, a legal requirement or discontinuing Quizzie), we'll tell you how to cancel, and we'll refund the current period for Google Play purchases (or only its unused part, where the store lets us) and support your refund request to Apple.

8.9 Changes to Infinity

We may change, suspend or discontinue Infinity with reasonable notice. If we discontinue it, we will stop future renewals and your access will continue until the end of the period you have already paid for.

8.10 How this section fits with the rest of these Terms

For paid subscriptions, if anything in §9 (Service availability and changes) or §10 (Termination) conflicts with this §8, this §8 prevails.

9. Service availability and changes

We work hard to keep Quizzie running, but we don't promise uninterrupted service. We may:

• Modify or remove features at any time.
• Take the App down for maintenance, upgrades, or to fix issues.
• Stop offering Quizzie entirely (we'll give reasonable notice if we do).

We aren't liable for any losses caused by the App being unavailable, slow, or different from how it was when you started using it.

If you have a paid subscription, §8 also applies and prevails over this section.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Quizzie at any time, with or without notice, if:

• You violate these Terms.
• We're required to by law or by a court order.
• We reasonably believe your account is compromised or being used to harm others.
• We decide to discontinue the service.

You may stop using Quizzie at any time, and you can delete your account from Delete account or in-app at Profile → Delete Account. Some provisions of these Terms (e.g., intellectual property, liability limits, dispute resolution) survive termination. If you subscribe to Quizzie Infinity, see §8.8 for what happens to your subscription.

11. Disclaimers

Quizzie is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We make no warranty that the App will be error-free, secure, uninterrupted, or that quiz content will be accurate.
• We make no warranty that the App will meet your specific requirements or expectations.
• We are not responsible for the conduct of other users — what they say, the names they pick, or how they treat you.
• We are not responsible for issues caused by your device, your internet connection, or third-party services.

If applicable consumer protection law gives you warranties we cannot lawfully exclude, those warranties continue to apply — but only to the minimum extent the law requires.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted under Indian law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost data, lost opportunity, lost rank, or emotional distress — arising from your use of Quizzie.
• Our total liability to you for any claim relating to these Terms or to Quizzie will not exceed ₹1,000 (one thousand Indian rupees) or the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose, whichever is greater.

These limits apply even if a remedy fails its essential purpose, and even if we were warned of the possibility of damages.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hatchgrid, its officers, employees, and partners from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

• Your breach of these Terms.
• Your User Content.
• Your misuse of the App.
• Your violation of any third party's rights or applicable law.

14. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

Disputes: Before filing any formal legal action, you agree to first contact us at help@quizzie.app and give us at least 30 days to resolve the issue informally. Most disputes can be settled this way.

If we can't resolve it informally, you agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or to Quizzie will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Gurugram, Haryana, India.

Nothing in this section removes mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of the country where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts that cannot be waived.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll notify you in the App or by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect, where reasonable. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the most recent revision. Your continued use of Quizzie after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

If you don't agree to an updated version, your only remedy is to stop using Quizzie and delete your account.

16. Miscellaneous

• Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Hatchgrid regarding Quizzie. They replace any prior agreement.
• Severability: if any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
• No waiver: if we don't enforce a provision, that's not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
• No assignment by you: you may not transfer your account or these Terms to anyone else. We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations to a successor or affiliate.

17. Apple App Store — additional terms

If you download Quizzie from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply. In the event of any conflict between this section and the rest of these Terms, this section governs only with respect to your use of the App obtained from the Apple App Store.

• Parties: These Terms are an agreement between you and Hatchgrid only, not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
• Licence scope: Apple grants you a non-transferable licence to use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
• Maintenance and support: Hatchgrid — not Apple — is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the App. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services.
• Warranty: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the App. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are Hatchgrid's responsibility.
• Product claims: Hatchgrid, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your use of it, including (a) product-liability claims, (b) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and (c) claims arising under consumer-protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
• Intellectual property: In the event of any third-party claim that the App or your use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Hatchgrid, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of any such claim.
• Legal compliance: You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist-supporting", and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Third-party beneficiary: You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
